About 900 years later, when Monkey D. Luffy is defeated by Kaidou on the Skull Dome rooftop, the "Drums of Liberation" is heard again. Luffy then regains his consciousness and grins, awakening his Devil Fruit and transforming into his Gear 5 form for the first time.
When he activates Gear Fifth, Luffy covers himself with Armament Haki and Royal Haki. The awakening of the Gomu Gomu no Mi gives the user’s rubbery body greater strength and freedom, limited only by the user’s imagination.
